wish ko lang may pumasok pa para naman dumami ang mga magsi-share...

guys alam ba ninyo yung word na MORTOGO? hindi ko alam ang spelling pero naririnig ko iyan sa mga nanay dito sa lugar namin...ganito nila gamitin:

"Ano ba naman aalis ka na nga lang nagmo-mortogo ka pa!"

Nanay 1: Nasaan na ang anak mo?
Nanay 2: Ayun nagmomortogo.

Salita ba ang mortogo?

At ang salitang HUDYO (nabasa ko sa MS mo macspy) ano ang ibig sabihin noon...you're not refering to JEW (nationality) diba?

tumalilis --> nagmamadali.......
e.g. Tumalilis ng takbo si Emma ng makita ang lalaking nakabungguan niya sa overpass.

pumiksi --> nagpumiglas. uhm... to break free. hahah
e.g Pumiksi siya nang maramdaman ang kamay nitong dumapo sa balikat niya.

water under the bridge --> things done in the past. tapos na. nangyari na.
e.g. "Just forget what happened, they're all water under the bridge now." payo ni Ella sa kaibigan.

crying over spilled milk --> pagsisihan ang nangyari na.
e.g. "There's no use in crying over spilled milk now. it's happened for a reason. " ani Marie sa anak.

@haze.. ngaun ako naniniwalang birds of the same feather are the same birds. HAHAHA. mga lukarets enuh? =)))))))

carry/hold a torch for someone - kapag love mo pa ang isang tao kahit alam mong hindi ka na niya love or kapag umaasa ka na mamahalin ka ng isang tao na walang pagtingin sa iyo...basta kapag hindi nasusuklian ang pagmamahal mo pero mahal mo parin siya YOU CARRY A TORCH FOR THAT PERSON.
e.g.
I still carry a torch for _______.
"I never dreamed I would have to lay down my torch for you like this" - isang linya sa isa sa mga favorite "break-up" songs ko...TORCH by Alanis Morissette...

pwede kayang ihalo ang malalim na salita sa english na line:
example lunggati (thanks haze prado) - pagnanasa...

Zaira King: Wow, I know I'm hot but please Tommy, try to contain your lunggati. It's most distracting.

madami tayong mapupulot na ganyang remarks sa english movies.. hahah.
ang ganda ng mean girls...

"do you want me to butter your muffin?"

wow knowledgeable ka pala sa mga ganitong topic macspy...

may idadagdag ako...tingnan nga natin kung tama ang pag-gamit ko...

"of the first water" - of the finest quality...ibig sabihin todo-todo na...
e.g.
The debutante is a beauty of the first water.

"of the highest caliber" - alam naman natin ang ibig sabihin ng high caliber diba? sa of the highest caliber parang tinotodo pa natin...
e.g.
_______ is a womanizer of the highest caliber.

"takes a human form in" - Una kong narinig yan sa movie na Mean Girls..."and evil takes a human form in Regina George" natawa ako sa line na iyon...pati sa "too gay to function" from the same movie...
e.g.
Raw, unadulterated, carnal seduction takes a human form in Zaira King. *winks*

yeah..merong gumagamit niyan. may mga salitang pabalbal sa PB's.. hehe.. meron ding mga old words na ngdaragdag sa impak ng story sa readers. just don't try to over do it. dapat 2-3 difficult words lang per sentence. baka kse nde na maintindihan ng reader eh. binabase namin (im a reader..LOL) ang difficult words sa context clues..kea dapat may follow up description ang word na ginamit.

yan ang crisp writing. hahaha..(nabasa ko lang infos na yan over the i'net) hehe
hope it helped. Smile

macspy yung umukil medyo familiar ako diyan...pero hindi ko magamit-gamit...

Isang salita na nadampot ko sa panonood ng "ginintuang telon" Magic Bakya ata yung title nung movie na iyon:

Suya - asar, galit, irita

e.g.

"Nakakasuya naman ang itay oh"

May gumagamit ba nito sa pocketbook?

nyahahah! nde rin ako sure sa mga iba jan eh.. pde i-correct pag may mga mali..hehe...

mostly... nabasa ko lang mga yan sa pb. i derived their meanings using context clues... kea ako lang nagsabing ganyan nga meaning ng words na yan. AHAH.

eto pa..

umukil ---> tumatak.
e.g. "Hindi na kita mahal!" iyon ang tanging umukil sa isip ni Leda ng mga oras na iyon.

balat sibuyas --> masyadong maramdamin.

burst your bubble --> slap the truth on your face. (stop your day dreaming) hahaha

e.g. "Sorry to burst your bubble, but you ain't gonna get me!" sigaw ni Marie sa mayabang na si Luis.

hissed --> screeched, screamed, shouted.
e.g. "Don't touch me you brute!" lyna hissed.

let us help one another.

this thread aims to help young writers to familiarize themselves to the words they might use in writing their novels.

pwede po itong tagalog word, or english word. either used in describing their character's feelings or when describing a scene. hindi lang naman po cguro ako ang nahihirapan sa aspetong ito ng pagsusulat ng novel ano? hehe..

anyways.
you can post anyword that fits the description above together with its meaning.

i'll start mine.

tagalog word:

usisa --> ginagamit kapag ngtatanong.
e.g. "kamusta na ang pakiramdam mo?" usisa ni Alvin sa kasama.

umibis --> bumaba.
e.g. Umibis ng kotse si Anna.

untag --> same as usisa,

giit --> pilit.
e.g. "ibigay mo sa akin yan!" giit ni Annie kay Jojo.

bulalas --> sambulat. ginagamit kapag nagugulat.
e.g. "Totoo ba ito?" bulalas ni Mang Kepweng.

ENGLISH.

pulling my leg --> joking, playing with someones feelings. ah basta.. parang lying din ito. HAHA.
e.g. "Oh come on! You're pulling my leg!"

cat got your tongue? --> astounded. dumbfounded. shocked. hindi makapagsalita.

i'm not buying that! --> "hindi ako naniniwala." said when somebody refuses to believe what the other is saying.

ayan lang muna mai-sha2re ko. hehe..
hope u can add some words here too.
